LIBRARY

College library is regarded as the backbone of college education. It plays an important role in the lives of young students who could have access to a large collection of reading material which it develops keeping in view their information needs. In this Module the objectives and functions of the college library in support of higher education have been discussed. It describes the various sources of finance coming as grants for a college library for purchase of books and other documents, recruitment of library personnel, constructing the library building, purchase of various items of furniture and equipment, and so on. It further states that with this infrastructure made available, the librarian and other supporting staff will be able to provide efficient and effective information services to support educational objectives of the College.
Library and Information Centre is located in an independent spacious block with an area of 1700 Sq.m. The library has about 2700 volumes of books.

VTU Question Papers, Syllabus, Faculty Publications and Newspaper Clippings of Sir Shree L.R.Tiwari are scanned and made available through Institutional Repository.

Digital Lab

The Digital Library is exclusively used for the online access of E-journals and other E-Resources.

Membership

The membership is open to all students and staff of the institute. Students can borrow one book at a time, from the Circulation Section.

Classification and Catalogue

The library books are classified and catalogued according to the Dewey decimal classification [DDC] systems. All the books may not be available on the shelf as many of them might have been borrowed by other members. To see a complete list of books on a particular subject one should look at the library catalogue. Library catalogue can also be used for checking particular titles by author’s name, key-word or title. Web enabled Online Public Access Catalogue [Web OPAC] can be accessed from a terminal in the library. Library catalogue can also be searched using a common web browser from any terminal located on the Campus or members can access library catalogue through their mobile. Instructions are displayed on the system, so that users can easily locate a particular book.

Reference Section

The reference library is open to student and staff during the working hours of the library. The library is kept open till 5.00 pm.
The College library is situated on the first floor of the building. It is a spacious hall that provides a quiet, serene environment for study. There are approximately 2700 books in the library, including some very old books. Recent addition includes books on subjects as diverse as computer science, information technology, economics, etc. The library subscribes to many journals and magazines. College Library has been playing a very significant role in the Educational Process and it is heart of the institution. Library provides knowledge resources to achieve objectives of the institution and helps in conservation as well as dissemination of knowledge. Our College Library performs a variety of functions by the way of collecting information, processing and retrieving the relevant information, helping the students and faculty with text books, reference books and journals, as well as by maintaining an efficient reference and information service.
